As Honeycomb expands its work in the climate and renewable energy sector, we are building a network of experienced sales professionals who can help bring high-quality climate businesses onto the platform. These businesses include solar developers, battery storage companies, renewable energy developers, and other climate-focused organizations seeking innovative capital solutions.
We are looking for a Climate Business Development Representative to source and qualify new issuers for Honeycomb’s climate crowdfunding offerings.
About the Role
This is a 1099 contractor, commission-only sales role focused on identifying and onboarding climate-focused businesses that are strong candidates to raise capital on Honeycomb’s platform. As a contractor you will be supported by Honeycomb team members but will have a high degree of autonomy and flexibility to pursue your responsibilities as you see fit.
The Climate Business Development Representative will be responsible for sourcing new business opportunities, managing the early sales cycle, and guiding companies through Honeycomb’s Regulation Crowdfunding application process. Once a business has been approved to raise capital, the representative will transition the issuer to Honeycomb’s internal customer success team to manage the campaign and ongoing relationship.
This role is ideal for someone who already has deep relationships in the renewable energy ecosystem and is comfortable selling a financial product through a consultative, multi-stakeholder sales process.
What You’ll Do
Business Development & Lead Generation
- Identify and source climate-focused businesses that are strong candidates for Honeycomb financing
- Generate new leads through industry relationships, trade shows, conferences, LinkedIn outreach, email campaigns, and other outbound sales strategies
- Work both inbound leads provided by Honeycomb and self-sourced opportunities
Consultative Sales Process
- Educate potential issuers on the benefits of raising capital through Honeycomb’s Regulation Crowdfunding platform
- Lead discovery conversations to understand project pipelines, financing needs, and business readiness
- Manage longer sales cycles involving multiple stakeholders within developer organizations
Application & Pipeline Management
- Guide prospective issuers through Honeycomb’s Reg CF application process
- Collect key business and financial information needed for internal review
- Maintain accurate pipeline tracking and communication within HubSpot CRM
Internal Coordination
- Work closely with Honeycomb’s credit and underwriting teams to communicate issuer financials and project details
- Ensure accurate handoff of approved issuers to the customer success team once an offering is ready to launch
What We’re Looking For
Sales Experience
- Demonstrated experience in enterprise or consultative sales
- Experience selling high-value solutions with longer sales cycles and multiple stakeholders
- Strong ability to source and generate your own pipeline through networking, events, and outbound outreach
- Comfortable working in a commission-driven environment
Climate Industry Experience
- Experience in the solar, battery storage, renewable energy, or broader climate development ecosystem
- Either:
- Direct experience working for a company developing renewable energy projects, or
- Experience selling products/services to solar developers, renewable developers, or energy companies
- Direct experience working for a company developing renewable energy projects, or
- Existing relationships within the industry are a major plus
Finance & Project Finance Knowledge
- Comfort discussing financing structures and capital needs with project developers
- Ability to understand and communicate key financial terms throughout the sales process
- Experience with project finance, renewable energy finance, or structured finance is strongly preferred
Tools & Skills
- Experience using HubSpot or similar CRM platforms to manage pipelines and deal flow
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Highly self-motivated and comfortable operating independently
